Wine and winning

With nearly 1.2 million hectares of land under wine, Spain continues to be the country with the largest area under vineyards.

They are Spain’s third ranked crop by area after cereals and olive tree.

And India, with its burgeoning market for just about everything, is an attractive destination for Spanish wines. Recently David Marco Moliner, President, Marco Abella, one of Spain’s renowned traditional wineries, was in New Delhi.

Remarking on the growing popularity of wine in India, Moliner said, “Indian people are open to accept new trends and we have got a good platform to start with the business of wine, especially in metropolitan cities like Delhi.”

The U.S Switzerland, Germany, the U.K. and India are the company’s prime purchasers and negotiations are on with other countries across the world.
