Book exhibition

Visalaandhra Book House is organising a summer special exhibition at its Bank Street premises, till May 20. The exhibition has books for children — comics, drawing and painting, cartoons, books on general knowledge and dictionaries. Telugu and English books for adults are also available for sale.

Theatre workshop


The Qadir Ali Baig Foundation has tied up with the National School of Drama, New Delhi, to conduct a summer theatre workshop in the city. During the three-week workshop, Padma Shri M.S. Sathyu will teach direction, stagecraft and lighting, while the NSD faculty will train participants in acting, movement, voice, costumes, makeup and backstage management. The workshop will be conducted at the Nasr Girls School, Khairatabad between 9 a.m. and 12 noon for children in the age group of 5 to 15 and between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. for adults from May 12 to June 3. Summer Camp

Play

Torn Curtains is turning 37 and to coincide with its anniversary, will be staging a play Meri Kahani. Directed by Mala Pasha and written by Toronto-based Mehreen Poonja and Umbreen Inayet who have researched issues faced by South Asian immigrant women. The monologues in this play express issues of domestic violence that we feel are relevant not only in our society but globally. The first Indian production will be held in Hyderabad, after which the group intends to travel throughout India. The play will be staged at Taj Deccan on May 9 at 8 p.m.
