Chords & Notes

FUZON – JOURNEY
EMI, Rs. 195

Their first album was a masterpiece. And if you expected the second album to supersede it, then you are in for some disappointment. This is not to say Journey doesn’t make for a good listen but we expected something more from this talented Pakistani band. The 10 songs in the album are hummable, some even worth shaking your legs and no remixes. The guitars strum enough to stir your heart, and heavy beats blend beautifully with the melodious ragas for that soothing experience.

“Neend Na Aaye” is a good start to a relaxing journey. “Suna Suna” is another soft number that follows. Rameez’s voices works like a tranquiliser but you do miss Shafaqat Amanat Ali’s voice at times. “Dholna” “Teri Yaadan” and “Choo Lo” are lively, peppy numbers and have a Punjabi feel to it. Slow-paced “Paree”, “Abhi Hum Kahaan Hain” and “Jo Dil Ne Kaha” make you forget everything. A good buy, worth listening to again and again.
