Magic of togetherness

It’s evening and the energy here is infectious. Ramani and her teenage daughter Tejaswani put on their dancing shoes and it’s time to do some cardio funk. Ramani and Tejaswani twist, turn and move in rhythm to the Hindi and Telugu film numbers.

“I found dance as a medium to bond with my daughter especially during her vacation,” says this assistant executive engineer of the Panchayati Raj Department.

It’s the trend of new age mothers closely bonding with their children.

Be it music, dance or even exercise, these ace mamas are hitting a high note and leading by example. Exercise is a great way to beat stress and also helps shy people loosen up.

Spending quality time

Priya Das, a teacher with the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan at Sainikpuri jogs everyday at the Secunderabad Club just for the love of it.

While Priya runs with a lot more will power, her little daughter Anya splashes around in a pool of water after her skating and cycling routine.

“We keep fit and motivate each other too,” says Priya. These newage mothers, especially the working ones, feel the sessions help them to spend quality time and also not feel guilty of missing out on their growing up years.

“If I spend time watching TV at home, my daughter will also follow the same. By exercising I am in a way exposing her to sports and teaching her the importance of fitness,” says Priya. Karisma, a homemaker and her teenage daughter Shweta are regulars at Joe’s Gym at Prendreghast Road.

“My daughter opens up and we talk, share jokes and even want to do better than each other,” she says. The new age mothers are crushing the stress monster by indulging in different activities and discovering avenues to bond with their children.
