Colours of summer

The paintings are a riot of colours

Village life Ganesh’s rustic slice

The sun is blazing outside but inside Gallery Space there is a chill in the air but on the walls of the gallery is a different thing. Right at the entrance is the canvas of Sachin Jaltare bright gold dripping on the canvas as a moustachioed man serenades a demure lady with red smeared across her forehead. Is this bright enough? No? Check out the other canvases and the riot of colours ensures that you will not miss the sun.

The show called Splashes of summer colours has a collection from a range of Indian artistes ranging from Vaikuntam and Sajid Bin Amar to Bose Krishnamachari and Stalin P. J.

Unfortunately, the paintings evoke a sense of deja vu as most of them have been on display at one exhibition or the other.

Ganesh Pasupuleti’s mixed media is a figurative delight as he blends the rustic hues of a village with the foreground of a white and grey. The mixed media work that isn’t much larger than a miniature shows a wealth of visual cues with a dash of flourish. The argumentative cocks standing on two washing stones with feathers as big as peacock’s form the foreground interest, then the village road leads us into the picture showing the gabled houses with the colours of the tiles changing as the eye is led on. Scattered across the image are the fine details that anyone who has been to a village will notice.

The other paintings are various shades of contrast to these works wit Babu Xaviour, G. Subramanyam and Anjani Reddy literally splashing bright colours on the canvases.
