My kind of place

APARA MEHTA

The world is a stage

Life for me is about lights, make-up, costume, dialogue, acting and travelling. I connect with the world mainly through my plays. I have travelled extensively through the U.S, Europe, Singapore, Malaysia, the U.K and the Middle East and enjoyed the fantastic response that I have got for my performances.

American dreams

One country that will never cease to fascinate me is the U.S. I love the quality of life it offers - the discipline, the freedom, the basic cleanliness, the smooth roads, the well organised traffic, the recreational facilities, the eating out options. I could just go on and on. I keep visiting America often and each time I return to India with the thought of a next trip. New York, Chicago, Boston and Los Angeles are exciting places. Being a hardcore Mumbaikar, I love the exuberance of New York. It's all work and all action like Mumbai.

So much to do

Shopping gets the first priority. You don't have to possess a catwalker's figure to buy your favourite western outfits. Upmarket boutiques and roadside stores cater to all sizes. Though most of the time is spent in shows and rehearsals, I don't miss visiting the variety of Indian restaurants. There are so many that no way you miss home food. Being a vegetarian is not difficult either. I have enough to choose even from my favourite Mexican and Italian cuisines. When it comes to outing, Universal Studios is my cherished stop. Once inside it, you will be bewildered by the technological advancements in filmmaking.
