TRICKS GALORE Magician K. Lal

Summer is the season of fun and entertainment. The IPL matches and recreational activities keep children engaged during the holidays. Magic shows too are a big draw. After Jadugar Anand, now it’s the turn of well-known magician K. Lal or Kantil al Vora and his son junior Lal.

With a 45-member troupe he has performed across the world for the past six decades. He has the distinction of doing 3,200 shows in Japan, a country he has visited 18 times. In the 1960s, the International Bureau of Magicians awarded him the title of the World’s Fastest Magician. In 1976, he did shows continuously for seven months.

In one of his acts, Lal brings more than sixty umbrellas from a small piece of cloth. In yet another, a stick becomes bunch of flowers and the stage turns into a garden. Some of his popular tricks are making a car full of passengers vanish from the stage, making goddess Durga spring to life from a mirror and making a dragon appear amidst the audience. The shows will be held at Raja Annamalai Mandram at7 p.m. on weekdays, and at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on weekends. For details and tickets 98841 52200.
