Smita on ‘Smita’, a new album in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil
|
Creating a buzz Smita
Smita may have done a disappearing act from the burgeoning Telugu Indi-pop world, but she has hardly been idle. She has been working on her new album Smita released in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil. Says the visibly c
heerful singer, “I have done enough in the regional music scene and it’s time to create a buzz at the national level. But at the same time, I cannot forget my fans.” That explains why she has launched Smita in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. The dusky singer has been planning the album for two years now and even went to the U.S. to hone her skills in music, dance and gymnastics.
A big project which boasts lavish sets and a budget of Rs 1.5 crore, Smita has some of the best names from Bollywood. If Saajid-Waajid (music directors of the hits Jab We Met, Race and Partner) has composed the tunes, the numbers have been choreographed by Bosco Caesar. With six original tracks and three remix numbers; the album is a blend of romantic, hip-hop and Rajasthani folk. “Smita is for people of all ages and is high on rhythm,” says the young singer. The power tracks are however, Maahi Ve,
Aaaja Nach
le and the soft romantic number Zaara Zaara.
After singing Hai Rabba in 2000, this is Smita’s major foray into Hindi. She wants to follow it up with an international project.
“My goal is to be a Billboard artiste, who sings, dances and performs like a diva. The new album is a step in that right direction.”
