Music for the soul Fête de la Musique
Alliance Française de Trivandrum in association with the Embassy of France in India is organising a musical soiree in connection with Fête de la Musique (World Music Day) at Vyloppilli Samskriti Bhavan at 5 p.m. on June 20.
This festival was started in France on June 21 1981, and was conceived by Jack Lang, the then French minister for culture, to pay tribute to music. Over the years, it has evolved into a social tradition, transcending all age and class barriers and is today celebrated all over Europe and other parts of the world. In France, every year on the day of Fête de la Musique, thousands of musicians, both amateur and professional, gather and perform at public places to celebrate the spirit of music.
This year, on the occasion, Alliance Française de Trivandrum invites amateur and professional musicians or singers to participate in the programme free of cost.
