WHAT’S IN THIS SUMMER? One of the designs on display
A new fashion season begins this month and it’s time for a sneak peek at the Vimonisha Private Collection that showcases the creations from designers across India on June 19, 20 and 21 at Vimonisha Gallery, 12, Khadher Nawaz Khan Road. The display comprises designer wear, handbags and accessories from Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Bangalore and Chennai.
From Kolkata comes Kamalnaini, a label that spells fashion. The designer duo behind the label, Aparna and Sudha, are all set to woo Chennai-ites with a range of garments that smack of sophistication. Floral Art, their collection of ethnic Indian ensembles comprises saris and semi-stitched salwar suits. The saris are priced at Rs. 3000 upwards and the suits at Rs.1200 upwards.
Shreedhi of Kolkata makes its debut in Chennai with designer saris and suits. Free flowing silhouettes and an impeccable finish are the special features of this collection. Samaroho, Kolkata is back again with hand-painted and embroidered saris, suits and fabrics. Pachrangi, also from Kolkata, offers a fresh line of ghagras, saris and suits.
Maple allows you to feel light and airy this summer with no fuss, cool cotton kurtis and brightly coloured mix ‘n’ match patialas with cotton and chiffon dupattas.
Ananya’s Collection from Bangalore consists of unstitched salwar suits in organza, tussar, silk and crepe.
ANZ Designs Mumbai has put together a range of designer handbags and kurtis.
Lucknow-based Kraftia offers chikankari, kota, maheshwari, chanderi fabrics and garments, while Jaipur’s Color Fab displays hand block printed fabrics and garments from Rajasthan.
Kurtis and salwar suits in traditional prints are the highlight of Vamangini of New Delhi.
Thread Redesigned of Jaipur showcases a new collection of salwar suits, kurtis, and tunics from Rajasthan and Indradhanush from Bangalore offers hand block printed cotton and silk saris.
