Eleven girls get a unique chance to visit Singapore
|
“Karishma, please pinch me, am I really in Singapore,” Anjali asked her friend. Anjali is one of the 11 girls from Udayan Care who recently went on a holiday to Singapore. Udayan Care is an NGO working for the development of disadvantaged women and children.
Dr. Kiran Modi, Managing Trustee of Udayan Care, said on their return, “The girls liked Singapore so much they were not willing to return. Pooja reaffirms this saying, “I will never forget the days I spent in Singapore.”
The hospitality and cleanliness impressed the girls most. “Singapore is neat and clean. You don’t find cows standing in the middle of the road like in India,” says 14-year-old Pooja.Singapore Airlines covered the expenses of the trip, including 100 dollars for shopping.
Manisa, the youngest girl from the group, who now wants to want to become an airhostess, said “I purchased a big doll and three dresses for myself.”
Kenneth Lim, Singapore Airlines’ Regional Director of South Asia, Middle East and Africa, explained the motivation behind the company’s gesture. “We love India. It has given us a lot of love and respect so it was time for us to reciprocate. The Indian High Commission and Dr Kiran Modi cooperated a lot. We are thankful to them.”
