Linking Kerala insite

www.todayskerala. com has compiled information about Kerala

At first look www.todayskerala.com appears to be yet another site that showcases Kerala and its culture. But a detailed look at it leaves one with the impression that it is an attempt to condense as much inf ormation as one might possibly want about Kerala.

Diverse content

Barely a week old, this portal deftly puts together content and information of a diverse kind. Says R. Sivaramakrishnan, design consultant with the Thiruvananthapuram based web development firm ‘Trillionsoft,’ “we want this portal to emerge as a one-stop destination for all information needs of users. There are more than 300 links in our portal, both internal and external.”

Among the internal links are pages on arts, astrology, flora and fauna and monuments, to list a few. Through a series of external links, the site provides access to information such as the Kerala Gazette, Kerala Budget 2008-09 and Right to Information Act 2005.

In addition, the portal provides links to health and other utility services. For news buffs, the section on ‘newspaper’ and ‘magazines’ might be a good place to start.

While links such as ‘Backwaters,’ ‘Hill Stations’ and ‘Beaches’ helps you decide your vacation spot, you can make online ticket reservations through the links to railways and airlines.

The three-member team, led by Sivaramakrishnan, plans to adds more services to the portal.

Sivaramakrishnan illustrates:“We are developing an extensive database of blood donors and their phone numbers.” Those interested in donating blood can add their names to the database after completing free online registration formalities.

Developed over a period of six months, the team proposes to generate and develop its own content for all the links.
