My Kind of Place -- KALA

Movement, my life

I am always on my feet. I am a dancer, you see. Packing and flying off to some place every other day is like a dose of vitamins. That’s one of the reasons why I like doing what I am. Luckily, unlike in the past, songs are now shot in scenic locales.

Its beauty overpowers your senses. Three years ago, I visited this gorgeous land with the unit of a Telugu film. The best part is we were in the countryside. It’s not difficult to turn a poet or a painter when you are there. Waterfalls, cattle with bells hanging around their necks, snow-capped mountains, cool breeze, a train passing through green fields, the locals cycling around…while you sit by the roadside watching it all. The unit people would be shocked to see me up at 6 in the morning and move around without warm clothes. I enjoyed the feel of the chillness and catching a glimpse of the village covered in snow.

For me, prayers have the same calming effect as picturesque places. I feel completely at peace in Guruvayur. I just need an excuse to make a trip. I feel the same being at Mantralayam too but do not get to visit it as often as I do Guruvayur.

Where ever I go, Paris or Pollachi, when I touch base in Chennai I feel I am in the seventh heaven.

I am rooted to its culture and ambience and cannot stay away from this city for long.
