Watch Ultimate Olympics to see the innovation of the Chinese towards hosting the event

China takes massive leaps in building infrastructure facilities, uses science and technological marvels; learns English en mass, and takes steps to reduce the pollution levels in Beijing, all of this in preparation for one of the planet’s biggest sporting events, the 2008 summer Olympics.

Discovery channel has launched a four-part series, “Ultimate Olympics” that makes an attempt to study the innovation and commitment that the Chinese seem to be directing towards hosting and participating in the sporting extravaganza.

Rajiv Bakshi, Director-marketing, Discovery networks India said, “In a series of four episodes, dealing with different issues viewers will witness how modern science and technology has been used to build state-of-the-art infrastructure, manage the vagaries of nature, combat terrorism and language barriers. The show will also showcase some of the Chinese Olympic hopefuls preparing for the mega event.”

It will also make an attempt to unravel the Chinese sporting success in recent Olympics.

The show will cover many aspects of the Chinese preparations for the games such as the Olympic Forest Park, comprising nearly half a million trees to serve as the green lung for Bejing, rockets to burst rain clouds before they reach the games venues and of course a mammoth exercise to help Chinese citizens learn English.

The show premiers on 14 July at 9 p.m. on the Discovery channel.
