Dial or log on for information

Need the number of that restaurant you tried out last week, or perhaps you need to know whether that movie you wanted to catch is still running at the theatres. Offering denizens of the city numbers and more is ‘Hello TVM.’

A call centre, ‘Hello TVM’ offers a variety of services for callers, right from the number of the neighbourhood beauty parlour to the number of the nearest police station.

And for those who are calling from their mobile while travelling, and do not have a pen to jot down the details, the call centre sends an SMS containing those very details.

Started by Shijo Chako, a year-and-a-half ago, he says: “Actually I was working on a website by the same name, featuring the same details when I came upon the idea for the call centre. I thought to myself, how many people would be able to access the net to obtain details.”

Website

The website, also known by the same name, works like a search engine a la ‘Google.’

“All you have to do is key in the name of say, a restaurant, and you will get its complete details such as location, contact number and the cuisine it specialises in. Likewise if you are in Kesavadasapuram and need the location of the nearest hospital, it will give you the complete details.”

A digital map of the city helps pinpoint the exact location and route one should take to reach the point of destination. “That was a tough task as we had to go to each location to measure the longitude and latitude.”

A team of dedicated workers helps keep the data bank updated. “We try to ensure that the services enlisted in our bank still exists, be it for callers or web surfers.”

Apart from just ‘food and services,’ ‘Hello TVM’ also provides the exact train and flight timings.

Those who want to find out if there are seats available on a particular train can also call the call centre.

“Our aim is to provide useful service to the community. We also have a list of regular blood donors and are working on increasing the number of people in the list.”

So, the next time you need the number for a nearby dental clinic or need to find its exact location, try 3919191 or log on to ‘hellotvm.com.’
