Now showing blockbusters

HBO premieres a bouquet of exciting films

HBO premieres some of the recent biggest Hollywood hits on Indian television this month. On July 11 at 9 p.m., action-packed “Spider-Man 3” was showcased as the HBO blockbuster of the month. Suspense thriller, “The Departed”, starring Leonardo Dicaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg will entertain film buffs on July 12.

On July 19, watch “Flushed Away” starring Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Jean Reno and Ian Mckellen. Drama movie “Freedom Writers” starring Hilary Swank, Patrick Dempsey, John Benjamin Hickey and Kristin Herrera will be telecast on July 26.

In its Sunday Super Hits section at 9 p.m., on July 13, the channel airs “The Mummy” starring Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah and Arnold Vosloo. On July 20, it’s time for “Batman Forever”. “A Sound of Thunder” follows on July 27.

The channel presents “movies with a difference” every Wednesday (9 p.m.). Watch “Pay It Forward” on July 9, “Blood Diamond” on July 16, “Darfur Now” on July 23 and “Gorillas in the Midst: Story of Dian Fossey” on July 30. Also look out for four chick flicks on the theme Ladies Day Out — “Dream Girls”, “Failure to Launch”, “Rumour Has It” and “You, Me and Dupree”.

For action film aficionados, there’s “Swordfish” starring John Travolta, Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry on July 18. The Friday blockbusters culminate with “Superman Returns” on July 25.
