Easy-to-make The daily bread can be savoured in varied combinations
Bread and butter is ideal for any breakfast menu. Here are some different dishes you can prepare with freshly-baked loaves.
Bread pulav
Ingredients:
Bread slices: 12-15
Green peas, shelled: 1/4 cup
Carrots, finely chopped: 1/4cup
French beans: 1/4cupGreen chillies, finely chopped: 2
Ginger, finely chopped: A small piece
Mustard seeds: 1/2tsp
Cumin seeds: 1/2tsp
Turmeric powder: A pinch
Lime: 1
Oil: 2 tbs
Sugar: 1/2tsp
Salt to taste and chopped coriander for garnishing
Method:
Cut the bread into small neat squares. Steam all the vegetables. Heat oil addmustard and cumin seeds. When they crackle, add turmeric powder and all vegetables.Stir fry for 3 minutes. Then, add the bread squares Add salt and sugar. Stir fry again. Add lemon juice and mix well. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.
Bread dahiwada
Ingredients:
Bread slices: 10
Thick curds: 3 cups Roasted cumin seed powder
Black salt to taste
Red chilli powder
Salt to taste
For the filling:
Spicy mint chutney: 5 tbs
Oil for frying
For the batter:
Maida: 1/2cup
Water: 1 cup water
Ground red chillies: 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
For garnishing:-
Sweet and sour chutney
Coriander, chopped: 2 tbs
Method:
Cut the bread into desired shape. Spread the spicy mint chutney between 2 slices of bread.
Make the batter by mixing water and maida. Add red chillies and salt. The batter should be of a smooth flowing consistency. Keep it aside for some time. Beat the curds. Add all the spices. Chill it. Dip the bread in the batter and deep fry in hot oil. Arrange the vadas in a flat dish. Pour the curd over the vadas. Garnish with sweet and sour chutney and chopped coriander and serve immediately.
