Vivel Miss Kerala 2008 was a scintillating event done professionally. Barring a few, minor unpleasant incidents the event managed by Impresario went without a hitch.
A distinguished panel of jury comprising film star, models, photographer, writer, sportsperson, entrepreneur, executives, tested the contestants on all fronts. The girls brimming with right attitude had some fantastic one-liners to boot for them. A few memorable ones were: Change a face is nothing but facing a change is what I believe in. ‘Why follow trends when I can set them? Kudos to the 22.
The designer sari round had the 22 beauties in a sequence called sirens of the sea. Being elimination round the contestants, were reduced to 15 ladies in the second round.
Dressed in pink gowns the beauties went through a Q&A with the hosts, Ranjini Haridas and Rajesh.
The third round with only 10 contestants brought the audience on the edge.
The five finalists in ethnic kasavu set-mundu looked absolutely stunning.
And as the time for the winners to be declared came a tie stopped the ball rolling.
The suspense was killing for it was truly a very close finish. Then a second written answer round tilted the scale in favour of Shree Thulasi who was crowned Miss Kerala 2008.
This exciting gala evening was peppered with musical entertainment by Franco, Kamal Maharshi and dance shows by a Mumbai based group, Mini.
Just one question that continues to be debated is: Is 16 too young an age to enter such a fray?
