The sons are here

The audio launch of Sakkarakatti was a star-studded affair

The venue was Sathyam theatre complex, and all the top directors of Tamil cinema were in attendance. The occasion: the audio launch of the Sakkarakatti, the launch pad for actor Shantanoo Bhagyaraj and director Kaala Prabhu.

K. Balachander, Bharathirajaa, S. P. Muthuraman, K. S. Ravi Kumar, Rama. Narayanan, Vikraman, Raja, Dharani and Ameer were present, along with actors such as Sibiraj and `Jeyam' Ravi. The film has been produced by Kaala Prabhu's father, Kalaipuli Thanu, for his company V. Creations.

The grandson of Rajshri Productions' Tarachand Barjatya was also present. Two songs were screened for the audience. The proud fathers spoke about the decision to allow their sons to join the film industry. The audio was released by Rama.Narayanan and the first CD was received by Shantanoo mother Poornima Bhagyaraj and music director A. R. Rahman's mother Kareema Begum.

The album has six songs, of which two are old tunes that Rahman scored for films in other languages. Taxi Taxi, sung by Benny Dayal, Blaaze, Vivane, Javed Ali and written by Na.Muthukumar, has a lively beat. Marudhani is a good melody number sung by Madhushree, A.R.Rahman and Henry and written by Valee. I miss you da by Chinnmayi and Indai Haza is a husky number; Elay, sung by Krish and Naresh Iyer, is a good number. So is Chinnamma, with lyrics by Pa.Vijay. Benny Dayal and Chinmayi have lent their voices for this.

The pleasant Naan Epoudhu is sung by Reena Bharadwaj.

S.R.ASHOK KUMAR
