“Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye” focusses on positive news
|
Tired of gory news on television with aggressive reporters shouting at the top of their voices?
Here is some relief. Sahara Samay has launched a half-an-hour weekly series Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye on Saturday.
“Most channels seem to have forgotten about happy news. Through this series we want to show that even development news can be entertaining,” says the host of the show, Vartika Nanda.
Vartika, who also happens to be the programming head of the channel, says, “The reporters were at first surprised when they were told they would have to wear a smile on their faces while reporting for this series. Similarly, they were told that the subject should be interviewed in a happy mood and the reporter should wear colourful clothes.”
Vartika says there is a story about a female farmer in Muzaffarpur who has become an example for women in a conservative society.
“Then there is a story about seven sisters in Jodhpur making a name in the business of spices.”
Instead of borrowed footage from entertainment channels, she is collecting footage from everyday life to entertain people. Not sure as to how it will fare in the TRP war, she has planted a pigeon among the cats, and says, “Let’s see how the cats react.”
