My kind of place

BRINDA DAS

On your toes

Every travel is an opportunity. Shirk your lethargy to take in the various colours of Nature, know intriguing details about the past and connect with diverse groups of people.

Even if I am in a nondescript town, I try to check out the speciality of the place. Believe me, it’s an enriching experience and add up to those memorable moments of life. Something you would love to sit back and think about.

Evergreen Kerala

Time cannot wither its beauty. Much has been written and said about Kerala’s green cover, backwaters and houseboats.

They have been an integral part of my growing up years as I hail from the state and used to spend every summer vacation there.

Besides the natural beauty, the Kochi fort and the Jew town are equally fascinating.

Near and nice

A smooth drive down the East Coast Road and you are into the quaint little Puducherry. For a short getaway, I think it’s an ideal destination. One attraction is the peaceful ashram of the Mother. Then there’s the beach. Take an early morning walk down the road where French live and you hear the strains of the piano from the houses that line the spotless street. It’s a lovely sight to see people on cycles with basket full of flowers. It feels like you have walked back a few centuries.

Up above the hill

From the plains to the cool heights of Kodaikanal. I have spent many a holiday as a child in this hill station. It was a reunion of sorts when I went there recently after many years. Boating, walking, trekking…perfect way to unwind and recharge.
