The son also rises

Shantanoo is on a high. His maiden film “Sakkarakatti” that also marks the debut of producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu’s son Kalaa Prabu as director, will hit the big screen in August.

Keen on making a lasting impact in showbiz, the suave son of famed director-actor K. Bhagyaraj, says, “It’s a strange mixture of excitement and nervousness. While I’m thrilled about my debut, I’m also a bit anxious, because of the huge expectation from me. The pressure is tremendous because of my background. It’s keeping me on tenterhooks.” About his role, Shantanoo says, “I play a lovable chocolate hero. I’m sure the audience will receive me well. Though dad backed my decision to act, he did not give me any tips as such. He only advised me to stay focussed and work hard. Since I knew I would be entering films, I trained in dance and stunts from masters Kala and Pandian. I’ve been on my toes…” Cho chweet… like the film’s punchline.
