City writers win laurels


Two Telugu stories written by city authors found place in a volume brought out by ‘Kadha Sahiti’ of Hyderabad in 2007 with the financial assistance of Telugu Association of North America (TANA).

Johnson Choragudi’s “Deeniki pata software panichestundi,” and K.N.Malleeswari’s “Khali” which deal with dilemmas in today’s life were published in the volume. Mr. Johnson is Regional Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations and Ms.Malleswari, Head of the Department of Telugu at Aditya PG Centre here.

Achanta Janakiram’s book released

Two books authored by well-known writer Achanta Janakiram (1902-1992) and brought out as one volume by Jyestha Literary Trust were released on Sunday. The books are ‘Na Smritipadhamlo’ and “Sagutunna Yatra’ (two volumes).

A number of writers and literary personalities attended the programme at the trust correspondent ‘Bharago’s’ house. Vijay Nirman proprietor S.Vijay Kumar released the books, out of print for the last four decades. They were published way back in 1960-63 by Desi Kavitamandali and Adarsha Grandhamandali.

Dr.Chelluri Bhaskara Sitaramachandra Sarma of Pondicherry detailed the eminence and uncommonness in the works of Janakiram. Book Centre proprietor M.Varahalu Chetty, Dr.Veluri Sitalakshmi, Somanchi Vinayabhushana Rao, Dr. R.A.Naik, Prof. A. Janaki Rao, Dr.Avasarala Ramakrishna Rao and Sripada Venkanna were present.
