Pocket pinching

Inflation means paying more for goods than what you were paying earlier. Not only essential goods, even non-essential items like cigarettes are costing more. In other words, inflation is leaving a hole in our pockets. Essential items should always cost less for the benefit of the common man. But they are now priced high like luxury non-essential items. Crisis always leads to frustration and invention as well. Such is the instinct for survival that people bring drastic changes in their lifestyle to survive. The Government can at least attempt to make things better and improve the safety net of its citizens.

R. KEERTHANA,

Madurai.
