Sway with it Shilpa Shetty at the launch
Home production, ‘The Unforgettables’ tour, an upcoming movie and an international assignment – Shilpa Shetty has her platter full at the moment. Launching Romanov’s new brand of vodka, Romanov Red, Shilpa said she liked challenges in life, and so she agreed to be the brand ambassador for Romanov. “It’s the first time a woman would be endorsing alcohol, so I liked the idea,” she said at the launch.
Answering queries on whether her endorsement would promote drinking among youth, Shilpa said she wasn’t encouraging people to drink, merely asking the vodka-drinkers to choose this particular brand. “It’s very sad for a family to lose someone over alcohol, so I would champion the cause of responsible drinking,” she stated.
Looking stunning in a sleek red dress, the tall and lissom actress revealed that she was taking violin lessons for her upcoming movie ‘The Man’ with Sunny Deol. “I’m nursing a sprained neck with all the strenuous violin playing required for the role,” Shilpa complained jokingly.
Her home production, directed by Manish Jha, will see her going the action way once again after Dus. Shilpa says she wanted to make a sensible movie which the youth could also relate to, hence the choice of Manish as director. “He’s the craziest, wackiest guy who can be sensible as well as entertaining, so that’s commercially viable,” she enthused.
Recently honoured with the Global Cultural Diversity award by the Next Step foundation in the U.K, Shilpa explained her earlier statement of having no respect for awards by saying “This is not a movie award, this one is for being an Indian doing community service abroad. Film awards are more star-oriented and lopsided, but this is not in the same category.”
Her International assignment was still in the scripting stage, and so she couldn’t reveal much about it, she said. Flatly denying all stories of her being the next Bond girl, she refuted claims of her settling abroad, and emphasised that she had refused many international offers to work for and in India.
