It is the people who make a difference for Sara

Loving it Sara Lynn Pesek
Zipping around in a black Honda Activa with her blond hair flying in the wind, you might mistake her for a holidaying backpacker, sitting inside a coffee shop she might look like an exchange student, but Sara Lynn Pesek is the one who is setting up t
he India office for New Energy Finance. “Now, in the U.S. which company will hire a 25-year-old to set up an office in a distant country,” she asks rhetorically about her choice of working in India.
Originally here for six months, Sara is now a two-year veteran in Hyderabad, where she lives in tiny Jubilee Hills neighbourhood and misses her Himayatnagar Rs. 3700-rented apartment where she could watch rambunctious children play gully cricket. “I have fallen in love with the city. There is so much action, development, technological development and exciting things are happening here. When I do go to New York, I keep thinking where are the people. The silence is eerie,” says Sara. “Walking the streets of old city, I feel that I have stepped back in time about 100 years and it is like seeing history,” she says.
“Hyderabad is a village, everyone knows each other which is good in a way, but not so good in certain other respects. But there is a certain sense of belonging,” says Sara who says she misses the chill of New York winter around Christmas when she takes her annual holiday. “I miss the sidewalks of New York where you can spend a day walking discovering the city whereas here all people do is zip around in their cars,” she says.
Life is a comparative degree for Sara who has worked for nine months in China, has parents living in Shanghai and has friends and extended family in the U.S. where she studied in six different states. “Money goes so much further here than in New York,” says Sara knows her numbers as a finance graduate from New York University. Her calculations are not limited to her budget as her role is that of a research analyst, “I am excited about working in a field where I can make a difference. With the energy prices being what they are everyone is looking at investing in green energy sources. And I help them,” she says.
