For a second life

A stay at a Kerala Ayurvedic resort can be refreshing

Tranquil Kairali Health Resort

Rejuvenation has to be experienced. We got a chance to do that this summer when we, as a family, visited Kairali Ayurvedic Health Resort at Kodumbu, nestled in Palakkad district of Kerala.

The resort, just an hour’s drive from Coimbatore, is well connected to all major metros.

Because it is set amidst 50 acres of lush greenery, you almost tend to forget the rest of the country is reeling under a heat wave. Blending comfort with nature, the resort has 30 villas that conform to Vaastu Shastra.

Therapies galore

The resort offers Ayurvedic treatment for many ailments such as arthritis, spondylitis, sinusitis and migraine, besides aiding weight loss, fight post-pregnancy issues and helping cure everyday stress. It also has beauty and eye care therapies. Vegetarian food and abstinence from alcohol and smoking are strictly propagated.

The result of all this is an assured gift that the resort gives to each guest — the power to face the stress and strain of everyday life.

The experienced Dr. Chandrasekhar, under whose guidance we were given an Ayurvedic herbal massage depending on our health conditions, gave us great tips on how to lead a tension-free and healthy life. The well-equipped massage rooms equipped with “Droni” (a wooden plank specially made for the massage), and traditional herbal oils manufactured by the resort’s Bangalore factory rejuvenates the whole body, toning the muscles, improving blood circulation and removing toxins.

The specialised massages at the resort include abhayanga (general massage), pizhichil, navarakizhi, talapotichil, khadikizhi, dhara, nasyam and netra dhara, among others. Then, there are daily yoga and meditation sessions conducted by trained specialists. Besides, the sumptuous vegetarian food served to us at the resort is in a class of its own. It has its own vegetable garden that supplied vegetables and fruits to the kitchen. The resort also has recreation facilities such as an amphitheatre for cultural programmes, besides games such as chess, monopoly and carrom. It also has a swimming pool, a cycling ring and a badminton court. There is a spacious yoga room and a meditation hall besides a conference hall, library and cyber centre.
