Many splendours Preston Bailey

The big, fat Indian wedding can make preparations to get larger and grander. Ferns and Petals, the leading brand of floral boutiques and designer floral arrangements in India has entered into a strategic tie-up with Preston Bailey, renowned event and floral designer from New York, who will now be designing Indian weddings in his unique vibrant style.

Vikaas Gutgutia, MD, Ferns and Petals group, announced the tie-up in New Delhi, recently explaining that the designs would be done by Preston Bailey while Ferns and Petals would be handling all the production work. Bailey, who has done events for celebrities like Uma Thurman, Oprah Winfrey, Donald trump and Catherine Zeta Jones, will be creating lavish dream weddings for Indians for a sum of Rs.2-4 crores per event.

Booming economy

“India has a great, booming economy,” enthused Bailey. “People here have money to spend; we’re going to give them great options to spend it on.” He explained his inclination to work for Indians by saying, “I have always been fascinated by Indian culture, and though I’m here for the first time, I have read a lot about it, and have used a lot of your amazing historical aesthetics in my work.”

Preston’s designs have a lot of nature in them — his signature style, he says, is “the more, the better.” Recounting one of the events he did for a client in Abu Dhabi, he says, “The flower arrangements that I did looked like pools of water on the ceiling.” Man-sized candelabras, red roses transformed into a galaxy of stars or life-size elephants are some of his eye-catching designs.
