Showcasing trends At the show
With beauty products a dime a dozen these days, people are spoilt for choice. Another well-known brand that has come up with a new range of products is Modi Revlon which launched “Revlon Professional” with a fashion event at Hotel Le Meridien, recently.
Renowned hair stylist and make-up artist, Sylvie Rodgers created the hair styles at the show with the support of Style Mantra. Models Joey Mathews, Krishna Somani, Smitha, Taruna, Rochelle, Laxmi, Natasha and others walked the runway showcasing cosmetics and the hair colour palette for 2008. A part of the ramp was made to look like a salon and it was quite a sight as the models clad in white walked against a blood red backdrop. Some of the outfits were stunningly designed.
The most interesting hairstyle in the first round was Krishna Somani’s. He sported a style like Marge Simpson from The Simpsons cartoon. On the whole, the hair colours steered clear of wacky shades and ranged from sober black and brown to elegant auburn and plum.
It’s been a while since I saw a pair of pretty yellow shoes! The second round was a mix of attractive footwear, including the yellow pair that got me fascinated, outlandish head gear, bright belts, men in shorts and women in smart clothing. This round had two of the male models prancing about in the most hideous pair of orange and blue capris with a semi-frilled layer in front. Amidst all this, the focus on the models’ hairstyles and colours was lost. The style that stood out was the one with poker straight hair in distinct layers of brown, white and black.
The finale too was dominated by elegant clothing rather than hair colours and styles. Most of the models had their hair pulled back and pinned up. The last lap had men in masks escorting a model whose beautiful gown could make even Snow White turn green with envy.
The well choreographed show, replete with glitz and glamour was put together by Rashmi Virmani. Talking on the occasion Deepak Bhandari, Director-Marketing, Modi Revlon, said, “Indians today lead a life in the fast lane and are style conscious. They visit the salons and parlours for personal grooming and appreciate quality products that are offered as a complete package. Our products have been introduced to cater to the special requirements of the evolved Indian consumer. They have been specially formulated keeping in mind different skin tones and hair textures.”
