Coming together to celebrate oneness

Burying differences, making united world a reality

In harmony Living together as a family

Imagine a world living together in harmony — seems rather difficult in the wake of the recent bomb blasts. However, those with a strong conviction of making this a reality continue to strive tirelessly.

For instance, the World Family Hyderabad (WFH), who celebrated World Family Day at the Devnar School for the Blind. With 350 visually challenged students, staff and members of WFH, this was one morning when differences were forgotten and everyone shared a common desire for oneness.

While little musicians Vidhi, Abhiraj and Pranav, all under eight, played for their visually impaired counterparts, Devnar students, too, were keen to showcase their many talents. Their noteworthy achievements in academics, professionally and in the field of international cricket and chess, had the audience awe-struck.

Special guest Chandra Supriya, the first visually challenged lady lawyer practising at the Andhra Pradesh High Court, encouraged the students “to pursue new challenging careers and strive hard to prove that the visually challenged, if given the opportunity, can certainly be on par with anybody.”

A peaceful world

The World Family Hyderabad, part of the Institute of Universal Consciousness (IUC), Bangalore, was founded in 1989 with the noble cause of realising the idea of “one world, one family” by Guruji Acharya Vinay Vinekar, a professional engineer turned spiritual teacher. The IUC is committed to serving fellow beings and creating a healthy and peaceful world, which lives together as one loving, caring family. All of us face different problems but we have only one world.

The wrongful use of resources in one region is causing devastation in other regions. I nstead, resources can be utilised for the betterment of society. In reality, the day is not far when all the people of the world would have to come together and form a code of conduct in order to save the entire planet from devastation and destruction.

Seed of togetherness

Therefore, the seed of togetherness has to be sown and people have to realise that all living beings are one and should support each other as one loving family, forgetting all differences of castes, religion etc.

Sravana Kanya, a housewife, was moved by the experience, “Today, I have really felt like part of one big family where we can all help each other. I have found a place where I can do useful service by lending my voice for textbook reading for the visually challenged children here. I have also decided to celebrate family occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries with the children of Devnar.”
