Romancing the umbrellas

It is raining umbrellas in “Romance with Umbrellas”, an exhibition of umbrella installations at Galerie Roman Rolland at New Delhi’s Alliance Francaise. The exhibition is concluding this evening.

Presented by Arshi Ahmed of Arshi Arts and curated by Naresh Kapuria, the show is about various artists painting on coloured and black and white umbrellas to celebrate the monsoon season.

Says Kapuria, “Both established and lesser known artists are painting on these umbrellas and those with genuine works of art. We are also selling them for just Rs.10000 each so that they reach the maximum number of people.”

“Close to 50 umbrellas are expected to be painted,” he adds.
