MY KIND OF PLACE - O. S. ARUN

Mmm…

The connection with the letter M seems to be predestined. ‘M’ is for music that lends meaning to my life. And, ‘M’ is for Madras (I prefer the old identity), Montreal and Melbourne. Cities that spell magic for me. Madras is home while Montreal and Melbourne are home-like.

Nature and notes

More than being a charming city dotted with churches and castles, Montreal is referred to by many as the cultural capital of Canada. A reason why I make frequent trips to Montreal. I conduct workshops and indulge in musical exchanges with jazz and Quebec performers. I work out of a studio that is located on my favourite and the most happening Scherbrooke Street, close to the Olympic stadium. One positive outcome of visiting the same city, especially abroad, over and over again is you connect with the people and the ambience. And the understanding and bond strengthens with every visit.

So much to say

About Melbourne. An annual visit is a must on my concert calendar. I have a good following of NRI rasikas in this beautiful city. Besides, I conduct workshops in schools here. Melbourne has a fascinating arts scene. I love visiting friends, attending local concerts and going on a tour of the vineyards. Melbourne has five major wine regions. Organised trips to these regions take you through the breathtaking countryside, amazing variety of vineyards and breweries. Well planned and thinly populated, it’s a great idea to hop into your car and go on long drives in Melbourne.

Travel

If you are people’s person and love to know places, too, you will enjoy every moment of your travel.
