Samudaya will stage the Kannada play, Swatantrada Ota, tomorrow

Boluvaru Mohammed Kunhi, regarded highly in the Kannada literary circles, has written several short stories about the Byari community (Muslims living on the Karnataka coast). This writer, who has quite a few collections to his credit, has a prominent
place in modern Kannada writing. He is rated among the most sensitive voices to have emerged from communities that had hitherto not ventured into literature.
Samudaya, which has been at the forefront in the amateur theatre movement, will stage the dramatised version of his short story “Swatantrada Ota” which is part of his collection, “Ondu Tundu Gode”. The play is directed by Shashidhar Bharighat and will have two shows on August 12 and 13 at Ravindra Kalakshetra, J.C. Road, 7 p.m. The tickets are priced at Rs. 50.
