Second season

Star World is launching the second season of “Ugly Betty” on August 11 at 10 p.m. Get a glimpse into the ugly side of the beauty business with the Emmy-winning comedy “Ugly Betty”, based on the Colombian tele-novella “Yo Soy Betty La Fea”. The series, which follows the life of Betty Suarez and her job at popular fashion magazine ‘Mode’, stars America Ferrera, Vanessa Williams and Eric Mabius. America Ferrera, who plays Betty explains, “The beginning of the second season has been a lot about tying up things that were left unsolved. The first season was introducing Betty, who was so new to everything and naive. Now she’s growing and her moral fibre is being questioned.”

At the Golden Globes, the series was named Best Comedy and America Ferrera scored the Best Actress trophy, a feat she repeated at the Emmy Awards.

This year, viewers can expect guest turns from American Idol judge Simon Cowell, rock legend Gene Simmons, Victoria Beckham, James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek), Victor Barber (Alias) and Eliza Dushku (Tru Calling).

There will be repeat episodes on Tuesday at 12 noon and Sunday at 8 p.m.
