The Buzz words

’Get Gorgeous’ girl Archana Vijaya on what makes eBUZZ, her show on AXN, special

She’s done it all… walked the ramp for Rohit Bal, JJ Valaya and other top designers, made it to the covers of glossies, hosted sports series on television and won the coveted Channel V Get Gorgeous title. Now Kolkata’s girl-next-doo r-turned-siren-on-the-small screen Archana Vijaya has switched to a show she “enjoys most” — eBUZZ, that’s beamed every Friday, at 9.30 p.m., on AXN.

“It’s a weekly wrap on the world of entertainment. Hollywood or Bollywood, there are news updates, coverage of movie premieres, audio launches, interviews and juicy inside scoops,” gushes the television host.

“The show is already an established one. I’m the new host. We have exclusive access to information relating to Hollywood films and stars. Besides, we even have a slot where showville rumours are put under the scanner,” says the effervescent Archana, when asked about eBuzz’s edge over the clutter of channels that offer news and natter from the world of entertainment.

“Page 3 people will continue to interest viewers. But it’s not easy presenting such seemingly simple shows. It involves a lot of reading and research. Though we have our own research team, I’m an avid Internet person. I’m always logged on. There’s so much happening in Bollywood. The world is showing interest in our films and our film personalities. Shows which package entertainment smartly are always welcome,” adds the anchor, who has done scores of ad commercials including Samsung mobile, Nike, Centre Fresh, Pantaloons and Parker Pen (with Amitabh Bachchan).

Talking about her entry into television, Archana says, “I loved clicking photographs. But it wasn’t easy for me to face the camera. It took a while for me to shed inhibitions. Now, I’m simply courting the camera.”

And is there any buzzword that helps her sail through her shows? “Well, I’m natural. Every anchor has his or her own style of doing things. I try to ‘maximise’ with my words. When I switched streams — from the ramp to television, it wasn’t easy initially. I took challenges head on. Life’s been a roller-coaster ride. As far as I’m concerned, there are no full stops. Only commas.”
