Populism

It is highly surprising to see an able and experienced administrator succumbing to the temptation of populist measures. Instead of taking such patently populist decisions, the State should concentrate on improving the lot of the poor by creating more employment opportunities, give a fillip to agriculture and concessions to village and tiny industries which are in dire need of attention. This decision will further aggravate the financial health of the State which has weathered many a storm due to freebies announced by the present dispensation in the run up to the last Assembly elections in the State.
