Training voices

The human voice is versatile and its emotive powers cannot be measured. All the more reason why you should take care of it. The Unwind School of Music has come up with a three-month premium vocal training course, tailor-made for vocal enthusiasts and amateur and semi-professional singers. Twelve classes will be held from October 15 to December 15. Each class will be for a duration of one-and-a-half hours and will cover, among other things, vocal tone, effective breathing techniques, maintaining good vocal health, note recognition using keyboard, music symbols, note values and time signatures, improving vocal range, and vocal exercises using solfege.

The activities held as part of the course will include vocal performance warm-up exercises, concert preparation, performance evaluation, solo and duet performances, class work and homework.

The tutors are Jaspreet Kaur from the U.K. who comes with great teaching and performance experience and Reeba Cherian from Coonoor, a vocalist with 25 years of experience in working with choirs and rock bands in Cochin and Coonoor.

The course will take place at the Unwind Centers in Anna Nagar and Adyar. The timing are from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The course fees is Rs. 3,000 and the registration fee Rs. 200. For more information, call 98413-79494 or mail usom@unwindcenter.com.
