Designed to dazzle

For New Delhi-based jewellery designer Divvya Bhasin, design is about spontaneity. And it shows in her fluid forms and seamless creativity.

Drawing from disparate references — Nature’s pulchritude to workmanship-centric traditional jewellery — Divvya has come up with a dazzling collection to complement festive attire. Her strength lies in the way she melds the old and the new to create notice-me-now jewellery.

DESIGNER’S CUT The highlights of this show are asymmetric earrings and my experiments with materials ranging from fabric and wood to fossils.

When you create an asymmetric line, it’s interesting to see how you take the story forward with different lengths and shapes of stones.

I’ve used flat stones for necklaces and layered them for a fuller look. I’ve given pearls a different look with inset stones and gold dots. It’s labour-intensive.

I believe in fusion of elements. So cocktail rings come in wood! But they are suitably embellished with stones for a rich look. Besides, there are pieces made of fossils and fabrics.

Hoops come simple or with beads thrown in. And there are colourful navratna sets for the trousseau.

This season is about colour, you see? The range starts at Rs. 15, 000.

WHEN, WHERE October 10 and 11; Evoluzione, Khader Nawaz Khan Road, Nungambakkam.
