Chords & Notes

EMI

T Series, Rs.145

With a tag line like Liya hai to chukana padega, one can expect the cheeky and the irreverent from EMI. And that’s exactly what one gets. Its not the kind of album you are going to snuggle up at night with, but you will have a good time with it. The opening title Chori Chori, is a light and catchy number. The lyrics are mast with Sunidhi Chuhan singing Chori Chori dekhe mujhe har diwana. EMI is a naughty little number, with Sanjay Dutt’s vocals providing just the right Munna Bhai attitude. The song is fun because unsolicited phone calls on loans are a universal pet peeve. Sanjay Dutt’s vocals are not about harmony but they do keep your attention. From a rap tempo the song suddenly veers into lilts of the flute. This is an interesting acoustic variation. In comparison, Aaja aa bhia jaa, is a rather tepid number. Roshan har Dil is a typical love struck song, it’s not particularly memorable, but it is enjoyable while it lasts.

Vote for Sattaar Bhai, is not the kind of song senior adults are going to lavish praise on as the language is not quite polite. But for that very reason it is likely to do well.
