Run man, run

Model-turned-actor Milind Soman talks about his new show

All geared up Milind Soman

Remember Milind Soman? Of course, you do! The good looking model, after lying low for a while and making forgettable appearances in a few movies, is back on screen, this time on the small screen, hosting a show.

NDTV Good Times’ show “Apollo Touching Lives Marathon Man” has Milind training himself for the upcoming Mumbai Marathon on January 18. After having run half marathons for the last five years, Milind will now run a full marathon (42 kms). Ask him about the show and he first quizzes you, “Have you watched the show?” and isn’t very pleased to hear you answer in the negative. “It’s quite an effort to run a full marathon. I thought it would be interesting to prepare a documentary on the training process. So I approached NDTV to ask them about the show,” says the model-turned-actor.

By running the full marathon, Milind wishes to raise awareness about multiple sclerosis, a cause he has been associated with for over seven years. Before undergoing training, he had to undergo certain tests such as colour doppler, ECG to ensure he is fit enough to run the distance. “I train for eight to nine hours a week. Apart from physical preparation, mental preparation is also required. It can actually get you to the last,” he says.

According to him, the shows tells you that anybody can run a marathon if they make small changes in their lifestyle. Experts from various fields give opinions and tips that will help run a marathon. The type of clothes and footwear to be worn and even the kind of music to listen to is discussed on the show.

The 30 minute show airs every Friday morning at 8.30. Watch it if you intend to run a marathon or just watch it to check out the ageing yet hot Milind.
