Smooth flows the music

The audio “Naal Nachathiram” was released

Launch At the release of “Naal Nachathiram”

For any audio release, the music director is the hero of the ceremony. But in the CD for Pooja Creations’ film “Naal Nachathiram”, the name of the music director was conspicuous by its absence.

The CD cover contains everyone’s name — the producer, co-producer and the director — and one wonders if the slip was deliberate. If it’s a mistake, well, it’s a costly one!

The first CD was released by actor Manorama and was received by director Perarasu.

Manorama said today’s stars (nachathiram) charged in crores. “I know that, in his prime, MGR’s highest payment was Rs. 11 lakh and Sivaji Ganesan’s Rs. 6 lakh. But today, leading stars charge in crores. I do not want to sit in judgement if it’s right or wrong. All I am saying is it’s happening in the industry.” Director Perarasu said he hoped to direct Manorama soon.

The music for the film is by Rajbhavan, and the lyrics are by the film’s director Sakthi C.N.R.

The best one in the album is the song ‘Kalaku Kalaku’ sung by Krishnaraj and group. The composer starts off with a melodious pallavi, but fails to pull it off in the saranams. ‘Success’ by Tippu is another good one. Vijay Yesudas’ solo number ‘Malli Malli’ is pleasant too. Another number he has sung with Anoorada Sriram is ‘Thaliye Enakku’. ‘Iru Kangalin’ is sung by Jothimeena, Swathi and Naveena. The last song ‘Thaye Unnai’ is again by Anoorada Sriram.

One good aspect about the album is that there’s not much of jarring notes, and the songs have a smooth flow about them.

S.R. ASHOK KUMAR
