The key to maintaining a healthy weight is not just what you eat but when you eat it: people who consistently eat at the same time each day — and don’t skip meals — are less likely to develop a large waistline or insulin resistance (factors in developing type 2 diabetes), according to a study of 3,607 women and men by the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. Conversely, people who skip meals or eat at odd hours have a higher risk of metabolic disease.
