What is yoga?

Yoga balances everything in your life, making it beautiful

IT’S NEVER TOO LATE You can start practising yoga even at 60

Most people think yoga is a physical exercise that improves flexibility. They find the movements slow and uninteresting. These people are more interested in fast-paced activities such as aerobics. They do not realise that such activities do not calm and relax the mind; instead they create inner noise and increase restlessness in the mind.

Some people think yoga is a natural therapy that provides relief for headache, arthritis, back pain, high BP and so on. When their health issues get resolved, they stop practising yoga and forget about it.

Some people think yoga is a religious practice that deals with rituals and tantric techniques. This is not true. Yoga is the basis of all religions. It makes you understand all religions and shows you the right path of living. Yoga brings out the positive aspects of every person, removing lethargy and negativity and enhancing love, contentment and joy.

Very few people are aware of the real benefits and marvels of yoga. Yoga is a scientific discipline for self-development, a powerful tonic that transforms you into a ‘Sattvic” — a pure and balanced person. Yoga balances everything in your life, bestows wisdom and makes your life beautiful.

Yoga makes you age gracefully. It is a gift for the old age. It slows ageing, reverses the ill effects of ageing and you can live those extra years of life with good health and confidence.

It is never too late to start yoga; you can start learning it even after 60. All you need is a knowledgeable and experienced teacher who will understand and guide you well.
