When Krishnan Sheshadri Gomatam’s “Mudhal Mudhal Mudhal Varai” (M3V) has won the Best Feature Film (International) at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.
Says an excited Krishnan: “Nothing much happened after the screening. But on April 17, I got a message from the organisers that my film had bagged an award.” Having assisted P.C. Sriram and Mani Ratnam as well as directing the hit Indi-pop “Ho gayi hai mohabbat”, Krishnan ventured into his first production on his own. With an all-new star cast, M3V was completed. Touted the first ‘metro movie’, it was promoted heavily on the Internet and on its opening day, received excellent reviews in the multiplex circuit.
How was the response at the NY Festival? Says Krishnan: “After the screening, Marina Kissopoulos, director of photography from Italy, said she was interested in working with me. I also met international distributors who were surprised Indian films were produced without Kamal Hassan, Rajinikanth, Mani Ratnam and Shankar!”
