Lakshmi Rai on her upcoming films
|
Going places Lakshmi Rai
“2 Harihar Nagar”, the Malayalam film, has all the right ingredients to please the box office – a hilarious comedy, a nail-biting climax, a dash of nostalgia and, most importantly, a gorgeous heroine—Lakshmi Rai.
Riding high
The film, a sequel to Sidique-Lal’s “In Harihar Nagar”, has Lakshmi playing Maya, the winsome, vivacious girl next door whom, four never-say-die Casanovas try to woo.
As in the previous film, it is their infatuation for the girl that lands them in trouble. “2 Harihar Nagar” has a fool-proof formula where one could actually sense success even before the film was made, she says.
Lakshmi is all set to make her debut in Bollywood. “Well, I cannot tell you anything more about it, since the film has not been announced. But yes, there is a Hindi assignment in the offing, which has a good banner, cast and an interesting role,” she says. The actor will also be seen in Roshan Andrews forthcoming “Casanova” in Malayalam and the films “Vamanan”, “Muthirai” and “Naan Avan Illai - Part Two” and “Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam” in Tamil.
“I am choosy about the films I do. I try not to repeat roles. And, personally, I think, I can perform better with simple, straight forward characters such as the one in “Rock ‘n’ Roll”. I also look at the age and experience profile of my character. Not because I am reluctant to play older parts, but for the simple reason that I cannot do justice to them if their emotions are alien to me,” explains Lakshmi.
