Narcissist tendencies

We've had enough of these! Will Bollywood finally get the message or not? Looks like B-town's settling for option 2. For, believe it or not, there is going to be yet another film looking at the antics, misadventures and joys of Bollywood. How refreshing! At last count, at least half-a-dozen films in the recent past were made on the same theme. UTV's behind this latest one and co-founder Deven Khote will direct John Abraham as a spot boy in this one. That's nice.

In sync

Come August and Bharath Bala with his eponymous production house is to camp in Kerala for his film "The 19th Step" with Kamal Haasan, Asin and Japanese actor Tadanobu. The film is about a Japanese samurai who comes to India looking for the secrets behind the Indian martial art, kalaripayattu. The Indo-Japanese collaboration has influenced even the music for the film with A.R. Rahman and Japan's renowned music director Joe Hisaishi teaming up. Earlier this month, the two maestros shared musical notes at a meeting in Tokyo. Looks like Bharath doesn't want to leave any stone unturned.

In high spirits

Vivek was in high spirits when he met the press after receiving his Padma Shri. Asked why he was given the Padma award despite Tamil cinema having produced so many comedy actors, he said: “I think it is for the social messages in my comedy. And, I will continue to stick to it as this is my way of giving something to the society that has given me name and fame.” To another question, the ace comedy actor said that he would like to play hero and do something good as “a comedian’s work forms only a small portion of a film”.
