Get caught in a time warp

Watch fast-paced events at slow speed in the series “Time Warp” on Discovery Channel

Who could have thought that watching a high-speed event like a boxer’s upper cut or a dog drinking water at the slowest of speed would be so thrilling? Don’t believe it. Then watch Discovery Channel’s new breakthrough series “ Time Warp” which slows down events to reveal the motion of high-pace events with spectacular clarity.

Using the latest in high-speed photography, the “Time Warp” team turns their cameras on familiar occurrences and natural events like a cat licking its paw and a champagne bottle being opened and study them in frame-by-frame clarity. Airing every Monday at 9 p.m. on Discovery Channel, “Time Warp” alters speed and breaks down each of these events to show us exactly what happens.

Jeff Lieberman, scientist and teacher at the MIT and Matt Kearney, a digital photography expert, use new technologies to bring never-before-seen wonders into a form that your body and brain can actually process and comprehend.

Normal video cameras shoot at 30 frames per second, but in order to get warped, they use ultra high-speed digital cameras that shoot up to 650 times faster, displaying it way slower.
