Wash the trotters thoroughly in water which has rice flour and salt mixed in it. Add five cups of water and cook the trotters for about 25 minutes. Grind coconut, ginger, cinnamon and coriander. Make a paste of pepper corn, cloves, cardamom powder, turmeric powder, chilly powder and coriander leaves. Slice onions, fry in oil and keep aside.
Fry the spices in the same oil till they turn golden brown in colour. Add the fried onion, spices and salt to the trotters and simmer till the gravy is thick. It is a perfect side dish for idiyappam and chapatti.
