Makeover man

Milind Soman produces a makeover show

New act Milind Soman

Milind Soman has donned many roles, starting with modelling and moving on to acting and production. He is currently producing “Sunsilk Bindass Blue Carpet”, a makeover show aired on Utv Bindaas.

Milind says, “The show aims at not only changing the look of the participants, but also focuses on building confidence and a positive attitude. The participants will also be put through a variety of innovative tasks. It has been a different experience, and I have enjoyed working on this show.”

On his absence from Bollywood, he says, “I am currently looking at some scripts. I have not been very active in the film industry, because I am very particular about the characters I play, the people working with me, my rapport with the director etc.”

He adds, “I am going to be more visible on the big screen soon. I am working on a host of films, including some regional films.”

Difficult to direct

Milind feels that direction is the most difficult task, compared to modelling and acting. “Modelling is fairly easy — you just have to maintain your cool and look good. Acting is more difficult since you have to mould the character on your own capabilities and the wishes of the director. When you are directing/ producing, you need to be in charge of everything from shaping the characters to taking care of the camera angles, looking after the lights etc.”

He admits, “It is only when you direct do you realise that it is a fairly difficult task. The buck ends with the director. He must ensure that everything moves on smoothly and the project is completed without any major glitches.”

On his preferences, Milind is ambiguous. “I started a production company and my acting career simultaneously. I have enjoyed essaying both roles and cannot pick a clear favourite as such.”
