Of the audio album of the film “Malaiyan”
|
Three Sum Productions has brought out the album of its debut film “Malaiyan” featuring Karan as the hero. M. P. Gopi who has worked with S. A. Chandrasekaran for quite some time has wielded the megaphone for the first time.
According to actor Karan, “‘Malayan’ has an unusual storyline where I play a worker in a fireworks factory in Sivakasi. This is the first time a film with that backdrop is being done in Tamil cinema. There are two heroines in the film — Shammu and Udhayathara. Sakthi Kumar plays an important role. One can expect some fireworks in the form of screenplay and stunts. We have worked over time to make it appeal to the masses. I’m sure it will be a hit at the box-office.”
“Malayan” is produced by R. Balasubramanian and P. K. Raghuram. Dhiraj Kaer is the associate producer.
Dhina has scored the music. The album has five songs in it, each distinct. ‘Mayilattam Oyilattam’, penned by Pounraj and sung by Naveen, Chinnaponnu and Karan, is the pick of the lot. Here actor Karan does not sing as expected, instead speaks a few lines in between the song. It is a fast-paced, festive number which will appeal to the front-benchers.
The second best is ‘Unnaipole’, written by Yugabharathi and sung by Sadana Sargam. Here Sadana should be appreciated for getting the Tamil pronunciation right. She conveys the emotion of love well through her voice.
Thipu and Anuradha Sriram have sung ‘Therinja Sollunga’, the lyrics for which have been penned by Snegan. It seeks to find answers about the varied aspects of the lead characters by posing queries to the elements of Nature.‘Pottal Patti’ is sung by Benny, Saindhavi, Jayavel Velmurugan, V. V. Kadhir and Maravatti Pandi. The hero’s friends sing the song to tease the heroine and her family, demanding dowry. At the end of it, the hero comes to her rescue. The song which begins as a chorus ends as a duet.
The last one, ‘Gandhaga Bhoomiyile’, rendered by Krishnaraj and Shavarya written by Snehan, conveys the plight of the workers in a poignant way. Krishnaraj’s voice is fresh and one hopes he gets more opportunities to sing in the future.
